Salmon Evolution, one of the most modern land-based salmon farms in the world, has had a mostly successful start to its 7,900 metric ton a year facility in Indra Havoy, Norway. The company has harvested several batches of fish, and was readying another with healthy Atlantic salmon weighing over 4 kilograms each during a recent Undercurrent News visit.The company communicated Oct. 2 that is approaching steady state harvest volumes by year end. Salmon Evolution is already planning an expansion at the same site that will double capacity, using a novel hybrid approach that combines recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) technology with some flow through water.
