The Scottish government has introduced a range of measures designed to improve the transparency of data reporting from its many aquaculture facilities, following a 22-month work program.
Speaking to the Scottish Parliament on June 5, Scotland's cabinet secretary for the rural economy, Fergus Ewing, said the committee set up to look into conditions on Scotland's salmon farms had concluded that "maintaining the status quo was not an option".
"We will be introducing new legislation in 2020 that will require all marine fish farms to report a weekly sea lice number to the Scottish government's fish health inspectorate one week in arrears," Ewing said [...]
